Business challenge
Following continued growth, Moorhouse established a requirement for a cloud-based infrastructure with ongoing external support. With a costly telephony system, a combination of onsite and remote hosting, and an aging in-house infrastructure, tenders for modern technologies were put out to propose practical, easy-to-use solutions. In particular, coverage was required for Microsoft Windows-based servers, current infrastructure, business internet lines, desktop and laptop machines, and VPN for remote workers. The key areas Moorhouse were looking to improve were the speed of the platform, resilience, ease of maintenance, future proofing and the cost of licensing.
The solution
Prodec Networks designed an environment that is intrinsically future-proofed and resilient at every level with the ability to flex and adapt to any extensions and any emerging technologies with little or no redesign. The environment consisted of a full network replacement with enterprise-class Cisco hardware, in-office gigabit network delivery, desktop refresh with terminals and dual monitors and laptop replacements where appropriate. Thin terminals were introduced to replace all aging PC's across the business and Citrix XenApp was deployed to provide a complete virtual app and desktop solution for all users. The virtual desktops and business applications are hosted in Prodec's highly secure and resilient UK only datacentres.
This fully secured environment ensures PCI compliance, comprehensive support service for all offices and staff, regular operational and technical engagements, and a SIP outbound telephony upgrade with client call automation and customer services.
The results
A fully managed and privately hosted solution was deployed for Moorhouse Group comprising an end-to-end network refresh with no capital outlay. The voice and data systems were consolidated using Citrix XenApp for complete visibility, maximum performance, and full resilience. This has resulted in significantly improved network speed and reliability regardless of location and application.
With a dedicated virtual telephone platform Moorhouse Group has benefited from flexible, versatile communications between clients and colleagues, regardless of the device. Users have the same experience wherever they are dialing from and whoever they're trying to call, resulting in improved productivity. With visibility of the entire estate, calls can now be directed easily to the best user, saving time and effort whilst also protected by the IP VPN security measures and quality of service policies, ensuring scalable resilience.
